According to 9to5Mac citing the Bloomberg newsletter, Apple won’t likely bring Touch ID back to its smartphones, although such rumors continue to circulate in some circles. At the most, iPhone models rely on biometric authentication via Face ID with the front camera, and without the fingerprint being used to give the corresponding needs.

Whether Touch ID will return to more affordable iPhone models is a question of discovery. Several reports suggest that the company is developing a similar idea: the ability to utilise an appropriate sensor under the display surface and the application of the power button to do as much work as possible. Under certain conditions an additional authentication factor would increase the standard of protecting Apple customers’ data, but for the future, it will depend on the Face ID feature.
